Ellen Salyers, Attorney at Law

Educational Background

Ellen graduated from the University of Texas with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English in 1971, and in 1989 she received her law degree from Washington University in St. Louis. Ellen spent her last semester of law school as a Congressional Fellow, serving with the House Subcommittee on International Scientific Cooperation. She helped write and assembled the panel of witnesses who testified in support of HR 2152, the Inter-American Scientific Cooperation Act. Those witnesses included Dr. Leon Lederman, winner of the 1988 Nobel Prize for Physics.

Work Background

Ellen came to New Braunfels in 1997 as the First Assistant Criminal District Attorney for Civil for Comal County. Her responsibilities included advising the Commissioners Court on issues ranging from the incorporation of the City of Bulverde to implementation of the Senate Bill 1 water regulations to dealing with emergencies such as the 1998 Flood and a hepatitis outbreak.

Ellen left the District Attorney’s Office in 2000 and opened her own law practice in 2001 devoted to family law. She represents individuals in all aspects of family law, including divorce; post-divorce modification and enforcement; establishment of parent-child relationship; and child support.
